Handyman (temp)

Management services company in Jersey City, NJ is currently seeking a Handyman/Super. This position is set to last for approximately two weeks. Hours are 9:30am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday.

Job responsibilities:

  • Receive oral or written orders from Property Manager
  • Clean hallways, offices, stairways and windows
  • Use brooms, mops, and floor equipment to sweep, mop, strip and wax floors
  • Use vacuum cleaners to clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and blinds
  • Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors and sills
  • Use hand tools and power tools in making minor maintenance repairs
  • Make carpentry, minor electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs
  • Perform sheetrock, spackling, sanding, touch up and finish painting
  • Report all building deficiencies to property manager
  • Replace light bulbs
  • Use landscaping equipment to cut and trim lawns and hedges
  • Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures
  • Report work accomplished daily orally or on written work order to property manager

Job Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in building cleaning and maintenance work
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions
  • Must have the ability to work independently
  • Must maintain the highest standards in building upkeep and cleanliness
  • Ability to relate to residents, officials and contractors in a courteous manner
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects with proper personal protective equipment and proper lifting technique
  • Ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow
  • Must have own vehicle and valid driver’s license for company-related travel
  • Must be available on nights and weekends for emergency calls and/or trash disposal

Salary: $14-15/hour
